The First Commercial Defibrillator
Available Without a Prescription
Philips,
the leader in portable defibrillation innovation, designed the
HeartStart OnSite Defibrillator for the ordinary person in the
extraordinary moment. The Philips OnSite AED is designed to be the
easiest to use
and most reliable defibrillator available. And like all Philips
HeartStart
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), it can be used to treat
adults as well as infants and
children.
Lightweight AED
Weighing just 3.3 lbs. fully equipped, this small and lightweight
defibrillator can be easily carried to the victim's side.
Intuitive AED
Using
clear, calm voice instructions, the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED
guides you
through each step of defibrillation, including CPR Coaching.
Effective Defibrillation
Integrated
SMART Pads placed on the victim's bare skin transmit information to the
defibrillator, which senses and adapts to your actions every step of
the way. HeartStart OnSite includes proven Philips technologies for
heart rhythm assessment (SMART Analysis) and defibrillation energy
delivery (SMART Biphasic).
Quick Shock: The Philips HeartStart AED
Advantage
Quick
Shock
is a unique new feature offered only by Philips on its HeartStart
OnSite Defibrillators. The beneficial effect of CPR disappears very
rapidly once it is stopped, so time to shock is very important. The
Philips HeartStart OnSite AED is able to deliver a shock in less than
10 seconds
after the end of a CPR pause. No other Automated External Defibrillator
(AED) is able to do this as quickly. Other technologies fall farther
out on
this curve, wasting the benefits of CPR. No other manufacturer's device
is even close to the Philips HeartStart Onsite Defibrillator.

Automatic AED Self-Tests
The
Philips HeartStart OnSite AED performs daily, weekly, and monthly
self-tests of its
electrical components, subsystems, and battery to help ensure continued
reliability and readiness. A daily pads integrity test checks that the
cartridge is properly installed and that the defibrillator pads are in
working order.
As
long as the green "Ready" light on the
defibrillator is flashing, the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED is ready
for use.
When your Philips HeartStart OnSite AED needs attention, the Ready
light turns off and the
defibrillator will chirp to alert you. Pressing the flashing blue "i"
button provides verbal guidance to help you identify and correct the
situation.
Long-life AED Battery
The Philips HeartStart
OnSite AED is powered by a long-life disposable battery, the same
technology
used in cameras. The AED battery has a 5-year self life plus a 4-year
life
when installed. Just click the AED battery in place, and the
defibrillator
is standing by, ready for use.

Replaceable SMART Pads Cartridges
The
cartridge contains two adhesive pads that are peeled and placed on the
patient's bare skin as indicated by the pictures on the pads. The pads
are "smart" because they can sense that they have been removed from the
cartridge and applied to the patient. See product information for: Philips

HeartStart OnSite AED - Infant / Child SMART Electrode Pads Cartridge

The
Philips HeartStart OnSite AED can be used on patients of any age.
Special
AED Infant/Child SMART Pads reduce the defibrillator's shock energy, so
that you can treat an infant or child suffering sudden cardiac arrest.
The Infant/Child Defibrillation Pads cartridge is marked with an
indication of the
appropriate weight and with a teddy bear icon for ready identification.
To
practice your skills, a special AED Training Pads Cartridge (adult or
infant/child) can be installed in the defibrillator. It suspends the
defibrillator's ability to shock, while walking you through patient
care scenarios. See product information for: Philips

Easy to Use AED
Using
the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED Defibrillator is simple. Pulling the
green handle
powers-up the defibrillator and activates voice instructions. These
instructions are paced to your actions, to help guide you through the
entire process, from placing pads on the patient to delivering a
defibrillation shock.
The Philips HeartStart OnSite AED determines if a shock is needed,
based on its automated assessment of the victim's heart rhythm:
-
If
a shock is needed, the defibrillator directs you to press the flashing
orange "Shock" button. Then the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED delivers
a dose of
low-energy biphasic therapy, a highly effective defibrillation waveform
that is also gentle to the heart.
-
If a shock is
not needed, the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED instructs you to assess
the
patient and to perform CPR when necessary. While performing CPR, the
defibrillator's voice instructions can be activated to coach you on the
frequency and depth of compressions. The Philips HeartStart OnSite AED
also reminds you to
call emergency medical services (EMS). Should EMS need a summary of
care, it can be retrieved from the defibrillator's internal memory. An
EMS provider simply presses the "i-button" and Philips HeartStart
OnSite AED verbally
recounts events from its last clinical use.
