Our Total Solution to Implementing a Philips AED Program

Each year in the United States, more than 250,000 people succumb to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). In most cases, their key to survival is prompt defibrillation therapy. More than 90% of SCA victims survive when defibrillation occurs within two minutes of SCA onset. But when defibrillation therapy occurs after ten minutes, the victim’s chance of survival abruptly drops to less than 5 percent. Deployment of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and people trained in CPR and AED use are so critical.

Many public and private businesses are equipping their work sites with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). These devices require minimal training to use and allow a broad range of people, beyond EMS professionals, to provide lifesaving therapy to victims of SCA. Now, trained employees can deliver defibrillation therapy before EMS professionals arrive. Taking appropriate action within those first few minutes can mean the difference between life and death.

HealthSafe Solutions, Inc. offers a “Total Solution” to implement your AED Program. We make it easy to implement a successful AED program at your facility by offering all of the necessary components.

AEDs and Accessories: Philips HeartStart AED Solutions

The Philips HeartStart OnSite AED, Philips HeartStart FRx AED and Philips HeartStart FR2+ AED are portable, lightweight devices that require minimal training to use and are an essential part of administering first aid to a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. These easy-to-use AEDs operate with long-life maintenance-free batteries, perform daily automated self-tests and feature easy-to-follow voice prompts.

HealthSafe Solutions offers a full range of accessories for your Automated External Defibrillator. Accessories available include: AED carrying cases, AED batteries, defibrillation pads (adult and pediatric), data cards, fast response kits, gloves, pocket facemasks, face shields, scissors, razors, and wall-mounting brackets and cabinets.

AED Medical Direction and State Law Compliance Services

Some states have AED Laws that require organizations establishing an AED program to fulfill specific requirements. AED Laws often contain specific guidelines regarding training, equipment requirements, filing an application, and having a sponsoring physician to provide medical oversight for the Automated External Defibrillation Program. In many organizations, a physician already on staff or associated with the site in some other capacity may be the logical choice to oversee your AED program. If such a person is not available, HealthSafe Solutions offers a comprehensive package of AED Medical Services through our partner: Medical Faculty Associates – a division of University’s Department of Emergency Medicine.

The board certified emergency medicine physicians at George Washington University developed their AED medical services to meet federal and varying state requirements. Clients are provided with a description of their state AED law and are assisted with following the appropriate state requirements. The physician approved services ensure the highest possibility of success when using a defibrillator during a medical emergency.

CPR and AED Training

HealthSafe Solutions’ training courses are conducted at your location by our certified instructors. All courses are taught using curriculum developed by the American Heart Association. The “Adult/Child CPR & AED” certification course prepares the participant to respond effectively in an emergency, to administer CPR, to rescue a choking victim, and to safely operate the AED.

AED Equipment Tracking

According to the FDA, AED pads need to be replaced approximately every 2 years. The Philips HeartStart AED battery will need to be replaced every 4 years. All Philips AEDs perform automatic daily self-tests to ensure they are ready for use. When the pads or battery need to be replaced, the AED will chirp and a voice prompt will advise what item needs to be replaced. In addition to this feature, HealthSafe Solutions enters the expiration dates of the AED pads and batteries into a database. We contact you before these items expire to remind you that they need to be replaced. This ensures that your AED will always be ready for an emergency.
